Artist: Damien Jurado
Album: Where Shall You Take Me?
  Song: Abilene

Tabbed by: Tim Prizer (tim_prizer@yahoo.com)

Standard Tuning, Capo 6

G/C from 1st string to 6th: 0-1-0-0-2-3

On a couple of the Am's in this song, Damien strikes the fourth string on the second fret,
then plays the same string open, and then hits it again with his finger on the second fret.
Such is the case in the Intro, which is played like:

e----------0----0---------------------0-----0------
B----------1----1---------------------1-----1------
G----------2----2---------------------2-----2------
D---2------------------2---0---2-------------------
A---------------------------------------------------
E---------------------------------------------------

Play the above 3 times for the Intro before walking up to C on the fifth string like: 0-2-3

[C] I fell in [G/C] love with a girl of [Am] nineteen [2-0-2 on 4th as in Intro]
[C] A black-haired [G/C] girl I [Am] called Abilene [Walk up to C on 5th]
[C] Young [G/C] girl, [Am] where's your husband?
[C] Sadly, she re[G/C]plied, I do not [Am] have one
[C] Then it's you I'll [G/C] marry [Am] with your parents' permission
[humming: Am - C - G/C - Am]

[C] No fine [G/C] sir, [Am] they will not let me marry
For [C] I am a young girl
And [G/C] you are a man without [Am] money
Then I'll [C] come by your win[G/C]dow
[Am] Tonight when they both will be sleeping
[humming: Am - C - G/C - Am]

[C] Outside your [G/C] window [Am] in a carriage I will be waiting
They'll [C] awake to find you [G/C] gone
Open their [Am] eyes and think they're dreaming
And [C] never did they [G/C] think
That their [Am] Abilene would leave them
[humming: Am - C - C/G - Am]

[C] Now fine [G/C] sir, [Am] where is it you shall take me?
Is it [C] in the mountains [G/C] high
Or [Am] is it the deep blue sea?
[humming: Am - C - G/C - Am]
